Mt. Pleasant Fire- Rescue Service # 8 seeks new volunteers!!

The Mt. Pleasant Fire- Rescue Company #8 of the Harrisburg Bureau of Fire is actively seeking interested parties who wish to serve in a progressive urban fire department. Volunteering in the City of Harrisburg offers unique opportunities that one can only get as a member of a busy city fire company.

Membership requirements are:

  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Successful completion of application
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check
  • Successful interview with Company 8 Captain or his representative
  • Firefighter 1 Certification preferred, but not required

Membership benefits:

  • Full payment of firefighter training, including Firefighter 2 and Fire Officer 1.
  • Full payment of Emergency medical training, First Responder to EMT-B.
  • Monthly training, including course work in Rescue Operations and other specialized certifications.
  • Opportunity to serve on all city apparatus in all city firehouses.
  • Opportunity to attend Fire Bureau training to continue becoming a more qualified member of the emergency services.
  • Opportunity to serve in one of Pennsylvania's largest urban areas, testing one's ability to adapt and overcome challenges not faced by suburban fire departments.
