Recently Harrisburg Mayor Linda Thompson appointed Robert A. Talloni, a retired Deputy Chief from the Norwalk, CT Fire Department as Harrisburg's newest Fire Chief.
Chief Talloni replaces Acting Chief Dan Hartman, who assumed the position of Acting Deputy Chief. Former Chief Dan Soulier retired last year after 31 years of service. Chief Talloni is the first Bureau Fire Chief to be appoint from outside the ranks. During his service in Norwalk, the Chief was promoted through the ranks to become one of five Deputy Fire Chiefs, he left Norwalk after 28 years. Chief Talloni said upon his appointment, "The shoes I have on now are brand new ... and I'm going to have to scuff 'em up a little bit and get them dirty."
The Harrisburg volunteers ("Pops") welcome Chief Talloni to the HFD family and look forward to working with him at a job soon.
